Be part of the biggest celebration in the Capital Region
The sound of bagpipes, the taste of corned beef & cabbage, maybe even a little bit of green beer. Everyone's Irish on St. Patrick's Day and Albany throws a legendary party every year. For 2024, you can see the St. Patrick's Day Parade on Saturday, March 16th.
The parade kicks off at the corner of Central Ave and Lexington at 2pm, heading east on Central Ave to Washington Ave, turning east and continuing on to State St. to James St.
Spectators can expect to see a number of marching bands, step dancers, floats, community leaders, Irish groups and clubs from all over the Capital Region. Bars and restaurants on and off the parade route usually join in the festivities offering Irish cuisine and drink specials. Don't have any green garb? Not to worry, mobile vendors move up and down the parade route selling shirts, glasses, hats and more.
Expect Central Avenue to be closed Saturday afternoon in preparation for the parade, from Quail Street to Washington Ave. Additional road closures and detours may be set up along the parade route.
