The First Ever State Championship Meet in Albany produces local champions!

ALBANY - On a historic Thursday in Albany, three girls wrestlers get to be the first state champions in their weight class.

In the 132 pound division, Ballston Spa's Mia Collins took down Huntington's Taylor Aiello to claim the state title.  Collins, a Senior, represents the Burnt Hills-Scotia-Ballston Spa combined team.

She qualified for the finals after winning her semifinal by a technical fall.

Shenendehowa's Ava Guilmette claims a state title in the 145 pound class.  She's just a freshman, which will make her a wrestler to watch for the next three years for the Clifton Park school.

And Columbia's Bella Satalino completed the Section 2 title club with her 10-0 technical fall in the 138 Pound Championship.

The meet, held at the MVP Arena, is the first of 4 years the championships will be held in Albany on the day prior to the Boys Wrestling State Meet.  The 2026 meet will be held on Thursday, February 26th.
