The legendary Quincy Jones has passed away at the age of 91

Quincy Jones, the legendary music icon, who worked with everyone from Frank Sinatra to Michael Jackson to Will Smith passed away at the age of 91.

Jones is said to have passed away surrounded by family in his Bel-Air home on Sunday night. The family released the following statement about his passing -

“Tonight, with full but broken hearts, we must share the news of our father and brother Quincy Jones’ passing, “And although this is an incredible loss for our family, we celebrate the great life that he lived and know there will never be another like him.”

Time Magazine had named Jones one of the most influential jazz musicians of the 20th Century. But he was more than a musician. He was a music producer, a composer, film producer, arranger, conductor, tv producer, record executive, multimedia entrepreneur and so much more.

He was the genius behind both "Off The Wall" and the "Thriller" albums from Michael Jackson. He was also one of the driving forces behind "We Are The World" and is responsible from quite possibly the greatest quote of all time in the music industry -

"Check your ego at the door"

That was a sign written by Jones, that greeted each artist as they walked into the studio to record "We Are The World"
