Three Section 2 Boys Soccer teams live on to play another game.

DELMAR - The season continues for our Section 2 Boys Soccer teams on Wednesday.

Rece Dyer and Declan Charette score goals as Mechanicville defeats Northeastern Clinton 2-0 in the New York State Regional Semifinals in Class B, played at Bethlehem High School in Delmar.  Cruz Goverski set up Dyer's goal in the 11th minute, and Charette's shot came with 18 minutes left to play in regulation.

Mechanicville, with the lead in hand, relied on their defense to keep the Cougars at bay, limiting their shot on goal opportunities and killing clock that became more and more critical to Northeastern Clinton as the 2nd half played out.

With the win, Mechanicville moves onto the Regional Finals, where they face Section 3's Westhill at Stillwater High School this Saturday at 3PM.  Westhill defeated Section 10's Canton 1-0 over in Watertown.  Winner of Saturday's game will move on to play in the State Semifinals next weekend down in Middletown.

11/7 3:55pm Edit: Mechanicville's game has been moved from the original location of Waterford-Halfmoon as the sports coordinators worked together to ensure both the boys and girls of the same schools in Mechanicville, Schalmont and New Hartford (Section 3) are at the same venue.  Mechanicville's games are at Stillwater, Schalmont and New Hartford's games are at Waterford-Halfmoon.

Following Mechanicville's win, it was Schalmont's turn.

After a first half that went scoreless with opportunities for both teams, Corbert Hallberg put Schalmont on the board in the 9th minute of the second half.  He would add a second tally of the game with a rocket from outside the box with under 12 minutes to play to pad the Sabres lead.

Hallberg was key in Schalmont's comeback against Ichabod Crane in the Class A Sectional Championship at Queensbury on Saturday, scoring 5 minutes left in regulation to even the score against the Riders before the Sabres would claim the sectional championship in the 2nd Sudden Victory Overtime frame.

Schalmont moves on to face New Hartford, who made quick work of Section 10's Franklin Academy out in Watertown, winning 11-1.  The Regional Final will be played Saturday, Noon at the Waterford-Halfmoon High School.

Northville wins in overtime

Meanwhile, at FDR High School in Hyde Park, Northville gets some overtime magic thanks to McQuaid Kippel, who finds the back of the net with 5:42 left in the first overtime session as the Falcons continue their season with a 2-1 win over Section 9's Chapel Field in the Class D Regional Finals.

The Falcons travel to Middletown next Friday to play in the State Semifinals, where they will either face Section 10's Heuvelton or Section 7's perennial powerhouse Chazy.  Their Regional Final is this Saturday, 11am at SUNY Plattsburgh.
