Plus 1st Title for Shaker since '92 & Berne-Knox-Westerlo since '79

TROY - It's back to back titles for Glens Falls and Niskayuna.

A 19-2 run in the first quarter fueled Glens Falls on their way to a 93-59 win over Catholic Central in the Class A Championship Game, scoring at will throughout the game and pushing Oscar Lilac to scoring his 1,000th point at the McDonough Athletic Complex at Hudson Valley Community College.

Lilac would score the milestone in the final minute, finishing with 24 points.

Kellen Driscoll scored 26 and Brody Holcomb nets 20 points.  Holcomb was named tournament MVP, and Driscoll was named to the All-Tournament team.

Sei'Mir Robinson scores 25 points on 6 for 30 shooting, netting nearly half of his points on perfect 12 for 12 free throw shooting.

The win is Glens Falls's 50th straight, last losing to Catholic Central in the 2023 Class A Sectional Championship.

Glens Falls advances to the State Tournament where they begin their State Championship defense against Section 7's Beekmantown at Shenendehowa High School on Tuesday.  If the Black Bears win, they'll play Saturday in Troy.

CLASS AA: NO COMEBACK FOR TROY AS NISKY REPEATS

Daniel Smalls drops 21 points as the Niskayuna Silver Warriors repeat as Sectional Champions, beating Troy 57-46 at a packed gym at Hudson Valley Community College on Sunday.

Smalls was named Tournament MVP, and Ethan Gilson adds 15 points.

After a 19 point comeback on Thursday to net their first lead in the game with 3 seconds to go, Troy needed less time to take the lead after obtaining the lead in the 2nd Quarter.  But Niskayuna would retake the lead midway through the quarter, and would remain in front through the rest of the game despite Troy's persistence to not go away.

Stetson Merritt, Wednesday's hero, scores 18 points for Troy.  Jedarius Green blocked 3 shots inside for the Flying Horses.

Niskayuna advances to Regionals, where they get a chance at revenge against West Genesee.  Last year, West Genesee brought an end to Niskayuna's season in Troy.

CLASS B: MECHANICVILLE WINS A TIGHT TITLE BATTLE

Jack Giarrusso, Monday's buzzer beater with drained shots at the end of the first and second quarters against Hoosick Falls, had the chance to be the hero once again with Mechaicville clinging to a 64-61 lead.   But Mechanicville's defense made it difficult and when Giarrusso was able to finally get a shot off, it was off the mark.

The end result is Alex Lilac joining his family's success in Section 2, winning the Class B Championship over Greenville 64-61.

Cruz Goverski scores 27 points as he earns MVP honors, and Chris Couser picked up a double double with 10 rebounds and 12 points.

The game featured 11 lead changes, with Mechanicville earning their final lead late in the game.

Mechanicville moves onto the Regional Semifinals, where they'll play Saranac Lake at Shenendehowa on Tuesday.   If the Red Raiders win, Saturday's Regional Final will be Saturday.

CLASS D: CINDERELLA RUN ENDS FOR GERMANTOWN IN LOUDONVILLE CHRISTIAN'S FIRST SECTIONAL TITLE

Loudonville Christian pulled away in the 2nd quarter to clinch their first Sectional Championship in their Boys Basketball program history, defeating Germantown 54-30.

Liam Deeb was named MVP after scoring 19 points, and Jack Bibighaus scored 12 points and tossed 8 dimes.

Germantown entered the game after winning their first two rounds against Fort Ann and Hawthorne Valley.  The Clippers had won one game all regular season, against Chatham, making the Columbia County team 3-19 going into the championship game.

Loudonville Christian awaits the winner of Bolton and Harrisville, who play Wednesday at SUNY Potsdam.  The Regional Finals will be Saturday at Noon at Hudson Valley Community College.

CLASS C: BERNE-KNOX-WESTERLO OUTLASTS WAC RIVAL TO WIN FIRST TITLE SINCE 1979

Jayden Buie nails two free throws to put Berne-Knox-Westerlo up by three, and the Bulldog defense prevents Jeffrey Mulhern and Jenson Proulx from getting a quality three point try, as Berne-Knox-Westerlo stays undefeated after their 54-51 win over WAC rival Duanesburg.

The win earns the Bulldogs the first title since 1979.

Buie would finish with 14 points, including three 3 pointers that came in clutch for the Bulldogs.

Shane Kirker was named tournament MVP after finishing with 10 points and 9 rebounds.

The third meeting between WAC rivals was much closer than the first two, with the Bulldogs having no better than a 9 point edge against Duanesburg.  The Eagles rattled off 9 straight points to take the lead before Matt Dwyer's three put Berne-Knox-Westerlo back in front.

Jeffrey Mulhern, Section 2's leading scorer, finishes his high school career with 26 points for Duanesburg.

The Bulldogs now awaits the winner of Lisbon vs. Moriah, to be played at the site of the winning section.

CLASS AAA: SHAKER WINS FIRST TITLE SINCE 1992 IN DRAMATIC FASHION

Shaker's Bless Demand, Tye Marino and Marcelin Mukendi come up big in the clutch, delivering the Blue Bison their first sectional championship since 1992 after beating defending champs Green Tech 58-54.

Green Tech, down by 13 points in the 4th quarter, stormed back to get back to 2 points down, but Demand's free throws shut the door on the Soaring Eagles.

Demand, named tournament MVP, finished with 17 points and Marcelin Mukendi added 14.

The Blue Bison were outrebounded 29 to 20, but made 8 more threes than Green Tech did to help fuel the victory.

Indaver Barnes scored 20 for Green Tech as he was named to the All Tournament Team, and U'Mier Graham and Ramere Brown scored 16 a piece.

Shaker advances to face Bishop Ludden in the Regional Finals, to be played in Syracuse on Saturday.
