During the holiday season, Amazon is running a promotion called "Thank My Driver" where customers can thank their delivery drivers and give them a $5 bonus. The promotion will last until 2 million drivers receive thanks from customers. Customers can only thank the driver of their most recent delivery, and the delivery must have been made within the last 14 days. Amazon is also offering discounts on Echo devices, including the Echo Show 10, Echo Pop, and Amazon Echo Dot. The promotion is a way to show appreciation to delivery drivers who work hard during the busy holiday season.

TikTok has asked a federal appeals court to prevent the Biden administration from enforcing a law that could lead to a ban on the platform until the Supreme Court reviews the challenge. The law requires TikTok to divest from its China-based parent company or face a potential ban as soon as next month. TikTok and its parent company claim that if the law is not overturned, the app could shut down by January 2025, affecting over 170 million American users. With Thanksgiving approaching, it's time to start thawing your turkey. The U.S. Department of Agriculture recommends safe methods for thawing your bird, including refrigerator thawing, cold water thawing, and microwave thawing. Refrigerator thawing is the most recommended method, taking about one day for every four to five pounds of weight. Cooking a frozen turkey is also safe, but it will take longer to cook. Use a food thermometer to ensure the turkey reaches 165˚F in the innermost parts before serving.

Pizza Hut has announced that it is stepping into the wine business by launching a pizza wine.
The limited-edition tomato wine is said to capture " the taste of your favorite slice in every sip.”
The wine is made with tomatoes and infused with natural basil.
The company says the “wine offers an aromatic blend of fresh herbs and spices with rich, sun-ripened tomato notes and a subtle hint of toasted oak – reminiscent of a perfectly baked pizza crust. “
Pizza Hut is offering a limited-edition gift set that includes a bottle of its new wine, two Pizza Hut-branded wine glasses, and a wine opener.

If you are traveling for Thanksgiving, you may be wondering how you can transport food to take or leftovers - especially on a plane. According to the TSA, a holiday food can travel through a checkpoint if it is solid. The TSA also advises passengers to place those food items into an easily accessible location of the carry-on where it is packed. A group of boaters stranded at sea were rescued by Disney's newest cruise ship. It happened Sunday, several hundred miles off the coast of Bermuda.  A catamaran carrying four people blew a gasket and began taking on water. The cruise ship Disney Treasure responded to a distress call and sent out a lifeboat to rescue the passengers. The Treasure is not yet in service - it was traveling from the Netherlands to Port Canaveral, Florida, where she'll launch her maiden voyage next month. Source: AP, Cruisehive

A pair of ruby slippers worn by Judy Garland in The Wizard of Oz are going up for auction. The famous shoes have quite a story - they were stolen from a museum display in 2005 by a man who believed they contained real rubies.  The FBI eventually recovered the slippers in 2018. The shoes are expected to fetch up to $3.5 million as part of a movie memorabilia auction that also includes the hat Margaret Hamilton wore as The Wicked Witch of the West. Source: CBS

Cutting down on snacks is one of the keys to weight loss, right?  Well, a new study found that snacking might be better for your health than we realized. London-based researcher Sarah Berry says a 2023 study found "no difference in health outcomes" based on the number of snacking sessions in a day. Instead, it was the quality and timing of the snack that made a difference.  Nutritious snacks like nuts or fruit were beneficial, while empty calories like cookies or chips - especially after 9pm - led to worse health outcomes. Restaurant chain TGI Fridays has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. The company says it hopes to "ensure the long-term viability" of the chain after struggling to stay afloat since the COVID-19 pandemic. Starbucks has announced that it is discontinuing its Oleato lineup. The drinks will be phased out in early November as part of an overall menu simplification according to the company’s CEO. The olive oil-infused espresso beverages had customers divided with some complaining of gastrointestinal issues. Starbucks cafes in China, Italy, and Japan will continue to serve the Oleato drinks. Breezit has shared the No.1 song played at weddings They state that it is Whitney Houston's hit, “I Wanna Dance With Somebody.” People Magazine states, "The company analyzed 2,000 wedding-themed playlists and nearly 50,000 songs on Spotify to identify the top tracks played at weddings. During its investigation, it found that the 1987 hit song was included in about 24% of wedding-related playlists, appearing 484 times." ConsumerAffairs has shared its list of the most Halloween-obsessed states.  The list is based on the number of haunted houses, pumpkin patches, Spirit Halloween locations, and more.  In the top five were Maine, Utah, Idaho, and West Virginia. In at No. 1 is New Hampshire.  The outlet states, "Considering its size, New Hampshire is packed with corn mazes, haunted hayrides, ghost tours, and costume stores, and you can find Halloween-related events almost every day in October." The holiday shopping season is here, and Americans are opening up their wallets. A Nerdwallet survey found that Americans will spend $925 on average on gifts for family and friends - up from $831 last year. It also found that all that shopping is stressing us out - 55% said they're stressed by holiday spending, and 28% were still paying off credit card balances from last year's shopping spree.
