The Sugar Fairy Bakes opened it's doors in Malta this past April and will now be closing for good. Shop owner Stacie Blair made the announcement back in November on her Facebook. Christmas Eve will be the last day.
Blair, at one point had 2 locations. One in Mechanicville and the other in Malta. Her Mechanicville store closed due to a lack of business, however she was using the kitchen in that building to make her baked goods since the Malta location didn't have the correct kitchen. The owner of the Mechanicville location is selling that building which leaves Blair without a kitchen. Stacie said that for her to build a compliant kitchen that would be approved by the NYS DOH and town of Malta, it would cost her $200,000.
Blair started The Sugar Fairy Bakes back in 2019 and was able to open her Mechanicville location in 2021. Her Malta location opened in April of this year.
